The Nepal Electricity Authority said power supply will be cut in various parts of Kathmandu Valley to operate the underground distribution system and manage winter electricity demand. According to the Authority, underground power system work will be carried out with lines switched off from 10 am to 3 pm until the 26th in areas under the Kuleshwar, Baneshwar, Jorpati and Kirtipur distribution centres.
Power will be cut in the Satungal Bauthali area on Asoj 15, the Machhegaun Dobhan Chowk and Khusi Chowk area on Asoj 16, the Mulpani area on Asoj 17, the Garjudhara area on Asoj 18 and the Mulpani area on Asoj 20.
Similarly, lines will be cut for underground work in the Balambu area on Asoj 21, the Koteshwar–Balkumari area on Asoj 22, the Sifal area on Asoj 24, the Satungal Dhaulagiri Housing area on Asoj 25 and the Dhobikhola area on Asoj 26. The scheduled cuts will not take place if the weather is bad.
The Authority said the scheduled cuts will not happen in bad weather.
Under the plan to make the Valley’s power distribution system underground, stronger and automated, work is under way to put 33 kV, 11 kV and 400 V lines underground and to lay optical fibre.
